Delicious is a social bookmarking site. This allows you to 'bookmark' your favorite websites, just as you would on your computer. With Delicious, you can share with others what you bookmark, as well as following the favorite sites of others.
Similarly, Good Reads allows you to list and share books.
Fan Fiction allows you to rewrite or add on to some of your favorite books, movies and tv shows. You can publish your writing online and share it with other fans!
Diigo is also a social bookmarking site, but this website allows users to highlight and annotate anything on the web using 'sticky notes.' You can keep your annotations private, or share with the world!
Also, we all know how important it is to remind our students to be critical when viewing sites on the internet. One site that might serve as an example of this is the website on the 'Endangered Tree Octopus.' To the untrained eye, some students might readily accept this as a credible source, rather than a humerous ruse.
A more serious example, is MartinLuterKing.org, a website that sounds like a wonderful source to include for a paper on Dr. King. It is, rather, a terrifying example of why students need to be critical consumers of information on the internet. The site is published by Stormfront, the White Nationalist Community. It illustrates how easily misleading information online can be.
